The coveted Best Practices Awards given out each fall by Workforce Intelligence (formerly People Report) and Financial Intelligence (formerly Black Box Intelligence) acknowledge best overall performance among members of the Workforce Intelligence (formerly People Report) Community based on restaurant management retention, hourly employee retention, composite diversity, year over year improvement and community involvement.
This year, in addition to the presentation of these awards to four companies who are best in class in these important metrics, a new and more elite recognition, the Diamond Catalyst Award, will be given. “The eighteen years we have spent analyzing human capital metrics, coupled with the four years we have been analyzing weekly sales and traffic data has only reaffirmed our long-held belief that business performance and people practices are inextricably linked,” states Michael Harms, Executive Director of Operations at Workforce Intelligence (formerly People Report) and Financial Intelligence (formerly Black Box Intelligence).
One of the highlights of this year’s Global Best Practices conference will be the presentation of the Diamond Catalyst award to The Cheesecake Factory, honoring extraordinary performance in both human resource practices and operational results. The Cheesecake Factory has exhibited excellence on both the sales and employee sides of the business. Their practices have created a diverse workforce with turnover rates that are among the lowest in the industry and have yielded a track record of sustained sales superiority worth of recognition.
“We are so excited about the Diamond Catalyst Award. It has truly been a dream to be able to pull together the people and profits metrics – clear back to 1999 when The Cheesecake Factory won its first Best Practices Award,” says Joni Doolin, CEO and founder of Workforce Intelligence (formerly People Report). “Our company is passionate about finding and celebrating exceptional business practices in our industry and honoring the true leaders.”
“Receiving the inaugural Diamond Catalyst Award is a very meaningful honor,” said David Gordon, President of The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated. “This award is a testament to the power of the core values we have maintained during the past 35 years. Since opening our first restaurant in 1978, we’ve been dedicated to the uncompromising quality of our food, service and people and to taking exceptional care of our guests and staff. It’s the talent in our restaurants that enables our complex business model to flourish, and to be recognized for this is incredibly gratifying and inspiring.”
“Our people are the key ingredient to The Cheesecake Factory’s success,” said Dina Barmasse, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated. “We are immensely proud of the staff and managers in our restaurants, bakeries and support center. Achieving the Diamond Catalyst Award would simply not have been possible without their exceptional work and dedication, each and every day.”
The 19th gathering of the Best Practices Conference is November 5-7th in Dallas Texas focused on the theme “People Profits & Planet.” In addition to The Cheesecake Factory being honored with the Diamond Catalyst Award, Workforce Intelligence (formerly People Report) will also recognize the nominees and recipients of the 2013 Best Practices Awards in each of the following segments: Fast Casual/Family, QSR, Casual Dining and Upscale Casual. Gene Lee, President and COO of Darden will be honored as the 2013 Legacy Award Winner recognizing his commitment to balancing people and profits.
