2026 Best Practices Awards

Black Box Intelligence Announces 2026 Best Practices Awards Nominees, Introduces Inaugural “Brand of the Year” Category

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALLAS, TX — April 22, 2026 — Black Box Intelligence is proud to officially announce the 33 nominees for the 2026 Best Practices Awards (BPAs). Recognizing the true “best of the best” in the industry, the BPAs honor the brands that excel in two critical operational areas proven to drive superior financial success: workforce management and guest experience.

Since their inception in 1998, the Best Practices Awards have been revered by the industry as the ultimate benchmark of operational excellence. These honors have a rich legacy of recognizing trailblazing restaurant brands, with a prestigious alumni of past nominees including renowned names like The Capital Grille, The Cheesecake Factory, Panera, Velvet Taco, Panda Express, and LongHorn Steakhouse.

Now in their 28th year and unlike many other industry awards, the Best Practices Awards are 100% data-determined. Each year, Black Box Intelligence evaluates performance across BBI’s extensive Restaurant Performance Network, leveraging the industry’s most comprehensive guest sentiment, workforce and financial performance datasets to definitively identify the leaders outperforming their peers.

“What makes these awards so meaningful is that the results are completely determined by what our data has consistently proven to be the tenants of exceptional restaurant brands,” said Victor Fernandez, Chief Insights Officer at Black Box Intelligence. “These nominees represent the best of the best when it comes to creating strong workplace cultures and delivering unparalleled experiences that resonate with guests. The data doesn’t lie; these brands are quantifiably leading the industry.”

A Historic Addition: The Inaugural “Brand of the Year”

New to the 2026 Best Practices Awards, Black Box Intelligence will crown its first-ever Brand of the Year. This pinnacle achievement will recognize the ultimate standard in holistic restaurant performance. The winner is selected through a rigorous analysis of both Financial Intelligence (FI) and Guest Intelligence (GI) data—specifically measuring the gap in comp traffic growth compared to industry peers alongside the lowest ratio of guest complaints per 100,000 guests.

There are no public nominees for the Brand of the Year category; the sole winner will be unveiled live during the awards ceremony.
